Our Impact
When it comes to health, we believe that knowledge really is power.
And we know that research holds the key to change – to enable us to better understand cancer and its causes; and to combat, treat and one day prevent cancer from occurring at all.
That’s why we’re laser focused on supporting the brightest minds in medical research do just that – and we are only getting started.

THANKS TO THE SUPPORT OF OUR AMAZING DONORS AND SPONSORS, THIS FUNDING HAS HELPED WEHI:
DISCOVER the culprit cell that leads to BRCA2 breast cancers – meaning we can now pinpoint exactly where it starts to go wrong.
CREATE an ‘atlas’ of breast tissue cells and 1000s of molecules that serves as a blueprint for studies. The better the blueprints, the better equipped we are to stop rogue cells.
PROGRESS work on a research model to mimic one of the BRCA1 genetic mutations that leads to breast cancer – helping us to understand what goes wrong, and how to stop it.
TEST 100s of repurposed, approved drugs on organoids (tiny lab-grown tumours that mimic BRCA2 cancers), to safely expedite the clinical trial process and help us find a solution, faster.
PROMOTE and SUPPORT a 5-year international BRCA prevention study across 62 study sites in 7 countries.
There is so much more to do. Join us to help them continue this vital work – together we can take cancer’s power away.
This year alone, 20,000 Australians will be diagnosed with breast cancer,
and 2,000 with ovarian cancer. It is time for change.
